indiana jones toys

thanks to martin at the club i now have these, scale wise they look ok and the plane could be used for a spotter plane and the tanks could be used for a sci fi game in 15mm if not ww2 in the desert.

afrika korps

a quiet week on mass painting, but down on the dak side in 15mm these could be the best I've done so far,

one mmg platoon 15 figures and 4x mg34's on tripods, finished enough transport to field two platoons of Rommel's finest look closely they even have number plates on them. (these are skytrex, fiddly little things but worth the look on the vehicles)
along with the mmg platoon I've done all crew figures for another 8 vehicles totaling 32 extra figures not part of any platoon or HQ unit, just to make the trucks look good....

just need better light to get some better pictures.
this weekend i also cleaned up 52 figures from mongoose publishing's mighty army's now deleted i believe, got them a few years ago on a whim but not sure what they are made from, tons of flash and made like steel when trying to file them down best results is with sharp knife but then I've only got 10 fingers and came close to loosing them lol.

so now the month total is at 293 can i brake the 300 figures painted in the month?
also added up the year so far, 960 figures painted lots started and undercoat done ready to do when i have the incentive

hordes of the things

10mm figures for the HOTT game system when i got them years ago easy painting i thought, wrong, the level of detail for the size is very good but most of it only shows up when painting them,

first up were the orcs 63 figures making the army up, started out with green dry brush followed up with goblin green highlights and then the detail stands out, look close and I've even done the eyes!!!!!
bore riders/wolves/bats and spider make up the rest of the army.

next was the amazon army or army's as i only need a command base and i got 2 HOTT army's for the price of one.

78 naked female amazon warriors again look easy to paint just flesh and weapons but i got carried away as normal ,
i like the queen on litter idea still this makes a change from valiant figures.
I've even done some more work on the afrika korps in 15mm scale, another 5 trucks done and just the drivers and passengers to finish off.

total for the month now stands at 246 figures, plus two 1/56 scale hanomags and 12 15mm trucks .
on a sad note terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles is a cert to be cancelled so no season 3 just when it got interesting ,
still ashes to ashes is back Mondays at 9pm BBC1 "fire up the quattro" here we go again in the 80's.......
managed to get a copy of caprica, the battlestar galactica spin off set before the fall of the colony's and how the cylons were created, overall a bit slow going, but with some good ideas like a hollow graphic Internet but when the cylon prototype shows up it moves like the new cylons very fast not slow and clumsy like they used to be. even in the last episode of galactica they are slow.

romans, red dwarf

well bank holiday normal weather, cold and cloudy with added rain, very little on the TV. = painting time.

Friday started out good with the completion of the wargames factory Romans. and interesting set, compared to the warlord set these take a bit longer to assemble and don't look much on the sprue,
i don't think they would take to the army painter system as the plate mail spray would fill the chain mail too much and you would not see it. best results light spray of black and dry brush silver/bolt gun colour and dry brush the helmets in gold. the rest paint as normal.
i like the transfers rub down not water slide, once you get used to them i.e. lining them up then rub with thumb. results speak for themselves.

so by Saturday 48 republican Romans finished, i decided to paint some old lord of the rings figures, that have been sat at the back of the table for a long time collecting dust.
you know when you want to do something and the results look great. (pics to follow)
total so far for the month now at 106. and rising.

on to TV, all new red dwarf on Dave Chanel, 3 episodes mixed reports from some people me i liked it but i wont put any spoilers on here in case you missed it or don't get free view channels.

also watched the season finale of terminator, the Sarah Connor Chronicles. interesting twist at the end i was unsure when i started watching it as the films are good on their own and this seemed to change the film story's but slowly i warmed to it and now looking forward to the next season. but with rumors of it not being made any more is just typical of American TV company's they always cancel the good shows but keep making the cheap reality TV ones.
also worth watching is dollhouse getting very interesting well written and after seeing Eliza Dushku dressed as a dominatrix leaves a good imprint on the mind.......... but this is also in doubt for another season,
at least there is always lost. never fails to be dull, always interesting and well written.

another success next doors single cell organism that is their son gave up playing rap music could be due to me playing stiff little fingers hanx CD at 1/4 vol if i play any louder i cant stay in the room
buy quality sound equipment you don't need to play it at max vol like the kids do these days.

april painting

after a quiet spell on the painting front due to other problems i have managed to complete my 251/1d hanomags from warlord / bolt action miniatures. they took some cleaning up and after doing the base coat in tamiya dark yellow i tried with a new style i found on the net, dry brush with bleached bone before adding the camo colours then black wash to finish followed by more dry brushing in other colours for effect,

the end results are ok and I'm happy with them for now..

also done another valiant British battalion 52 figures and i also tried putting a German side cap on one figure and it looks ok to give them another head option
